A Lifetime of Losses

This was written by someone else but it touched my soul.

Breeding dogs is a lifetime of losses.

We lose newborn puppies...

We lose show prospects that don't turn out..

We lose dogs that fail health testing...

We lose dog shows...

We lose sleep way too often...

We lose young mothers...

And after all those losses, we lose our beloved old dogs.

Yet we all are here for the little gains that seem to keep us going.

A puppy that takes it's first breath..

A nuzzle by our best old pal..

A ribbon at a dog show...

A light in a family's eyes when they hold their puppy for the first time...

A wag of a tail...

A new generation that turns out better than the one before...

All for the love of a dog and the breed as a whole, our hearts are resili
